Hey all,

I haven't blogged in a little while... not for any particular reason, just as life has been fairly quiet on all fronts. I can be a man of few words but when I speak it is worthwhile lol.

Guess I'll just say what's been going on in general...

Still living in Sao Paulo. The summer has ended unfortunatley... I can't decide if I am happy not to have any more scorching, sweltering hot days or if I am sad lol. It's around 21 degrees these days which is fine but I do miss the tropical sun lol... hopefully it returns soon and if not then I will hit the beaches soon anyway.

We still get the thunderstorms most nights for around an hour or so, which I love to look out on. Kinda euphoric experience lol. I've spoken about my love of sunsets and nature before. Thunder and lightening can be added to that list of things that bring a sense of aliveness into my life lol.

I'm working away on a couple of poker projects with some local companies and everything is going great. Poker here is like it was in the States 7 years ago... absolutely exploding... I went to one biggish ($600) tournament here on Friday and queued with over 1000 people for over 90 mins but by the time I reached the top of queue it was sold out :(  I was soooo disappointed lol as I had psyched myself up for it for ages. I came back home to my wonderful gf incredibly frustrated lol... felt like I needed shotgun some beers straight to my brain or something lol, I was pretty wound up. So we headed out for a nice late dinner and drinks which ended up being great fun. Anyway, of course I prefer spending a Friday evening with my gf rather than 100's of men trying to take my chips lol.

Saturday we went to one afternoon BBQ party...mmmmm, delicious. BBQ here in Brazil is absolutely gorgeous. A wide range of meets and cheeses on skewers open cooked on a stone bbq. Of course it being Brazil there were caipirinhas galore too, of which I drank many lol. Lime, pineapple, strawberry flavours and even one or two with condensed milk! All around a great time. The birthday boy had to be carried back to his apartment nearby by his buddies lol... much to the disdain of his lovely wife and mother lol. She said he would be sleeping on the couch that night lol... so I tried to save him a worse headache than necessary the next day by telling her it just means her party for him was a great success and he enjoyed himself, she should be proud. LOL. I think that's fair right? ;)

We got back to my apt here and I crashed out for a couple of hours too then woke up, grabbed some food and movies and relaxed with gf. Good times.

Sunday I played a bunch of tourneys online, the two biggest being the PokerStars Sunday Million and the Tilt 750k (won satellites to both to save costs). Unfortunately I busted both... the Tilt one I had a nice 3 x av stack but busted down to .5 av stack when my set on the flop couldn't hold against overpair... turn bink higher set, weak... Then about 30 mins later in the PokerStars tourney I triple barrel bluffed against the only other player at the table who covered me (we both had 3.5 x av stack with over 75% of the field already gone and only 200 players to go until the money) and he called me with an underpair on a straight / flush board... thus making me absolutely sick. He owned me, no denying it. I was figuring there was no need for him to play a big hand against me at all as we were both in great shape but obv he was one step ahead of me... I know you know I know you know I know you know I know you know etc lol. I guess I should have known.

I also came 3000th outta 50,000 or so in the Big Little $2 tourney lol for a sweet payday of $10 or so lol. Another very sick exit actually... I had a 4 x av. stack (though bear in mind a normal av. stack only has an M of about 4 in this tourney so almost all hands have to be played for full stacks pretty much)... anyway chipleader at the table who is raising every hand and calling multiple all in's very light opens in mid pos with a min raise... few callers and I call in the BB with 8dTd... flop comes 942 all diamonds, I overshove all in for triple pot and original raiser somehow manages to have KdQd. LOL. F me!! Setup, cooler, poker, whatever, lol.

I've been on tilt online since lol.

Hmmmm, other than that what else is going on? Oh yeah, I am truly amazed how it can be possible for me to be soooo bad at soccer picks lol!!! Thankfully I have just been making the picks and not actually betting on them, phew! Ross 1, Bookies 0 lol. I have even tried to make my picks then actually post the exact opposite of my picks as my real picks lol.... that didn't work either!

Having worked for multiple sportsbooks over the past few years though I can whole heartedly say that soccer betting is close to impossible to win at long term. You can definitely make money if you trade in and out of positions with the betting exchanges but just straight up win bets it is close to impossible to come out ahead, over multiple games.

So, back to the drawing board for my next get rich quick scheme... hmmmm compartmentalized / resizable / extendable cooking trays is one idea... but that's a blog for another day lol.

Finally, I am also apartment hunting again so if anyone happens to know of something nice in Sao Paulo please let me know ;)

How was your February?

Over and out,

Ross.
