One of the fun and popular fantasy questions to ponder is if you could have any super power, what would it be? As a kid, I vacillated between the ability to fly and the ability to be invisible. Flying would have provided me a freedom and perspective I always dreamed of having, while with invisibility I could have robbed any bank or 'perved' any girl.

As a poker player, I think the preferred selection would be the cloak of invincibility. You don't know that one? It feels great putting it on, as you play with the ultimate confidence that comes with being on the rush of a lifetime. No opponent is feared. No stake is too high. Bankroll considerations don't exist. Your mantra quickly becomes "play and win; any one, any time, any place."

It's currently being worn by a player called XWINK on Full Tilt Poker. In four days last week, he turned $4k into $2 million, taking on all comers at levels as high as $500/$1000 Cap PLO.

The benefit to the poker economy when the latest cloak of invincibility appears is that it shakes the poker money tree. High stakes players come out of the woodwork to test their metal against the latest invincible cloak, with the hope to collect their share of the redistributed money tree.

After XWINK's massive wins last week, FTP vets Phil Ivey, Cole South, Dan "jungleman12" Cates and NoPasaran looked to strip him of his invincible cloak to the tune of $1.2 million in losses over the weekend.

Fear not, when you have the cloak of invincibility, defeat is never defeat, but rather a small setback to be overcome. You are playing with house money that seemed to come with ease, so you must see the rush out. No need to be overly prudent. You came from nothing and can return there without fear. You are there, playing against the biggest names in the world.

As I write this, XWINK is playing Gus Hansen, Tom "Durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius. Only one with the cloak of invincibility would risk hundreds of thousands multi-tabling all three at once.

XWINK, a rumored 21 year-old Canadian, seems to have some prior experience with the cloak of invincibility. It has been claimed he is XBLINK from UB, who in November of 2009 took his last $11 to play a tournament, cashed for $750, and turned it into over $800k in a month.

The cloak of invincibility has had other wearers. In an interesting touch of irony, XWINK found some time this evening to play a former wearer of the cloak, the Swede Martonas. Martonas had his limited run with the cloak of invincibility 2-3 years ago. We all know of Isildur1's wild ride with the cloak, in what many thought could never be re-created. But other cloak wearers have come before and will come after XWINK's run is over.

Your time with the cloak of invincibility is the stuff of dreams. Ultimate power and glory is at your finger tips. You can become a legend in days; talked about on forums far and wide for years to come. Only in poker can the cloak of invincibility transform you so quickly from zero to hero. The power and confidence associated with the cloak is incredibly intoxicating, but also fleeting. Few if any who have worn the cloak of invincibility have ever truly revisited that original feeling in the months and years that followed, so enjoy the ride while you are on it. Once it's gone, it's gone. That's the thing about super powers. They belong to super heroes and at the end of the day we are all just human.
